After the termination of his contract, Croatia head coach Niko Kovač addressed the public in an open letter.

To the Croatian public and media

Dear,

On Wednesday, the Croatian Football Federation Executive Committee has decided to relieve me of my duties as the head coach of the senior national team. Without discussion on the reasons and the complexity of this problem, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to everybody who has been a part of the Croatia national football team project.

Even though the HNS Executive Committee has not reached the decision on the new head coach, as the already a former one I wish a lot of luck to him, regardless of the choice, in order to take Croatia to the EURO 2016 and make a great impression there.

I would like to thank the fabulous and loyal supporters, and the entire Croatian public for the selfless, zealous and passionate support of the national team. Even though we have missed them in a couple of matches, their contribution in our successes is immeasurable.

Moreover, I would like to thank to our and my players in the national team, who provided us with a lot of great moments, and were the reason of our happiness and celebration. I would like to thank each and every one, a I sincerely want them to succeed in the national team and in their clubs.

I would also like to thank the Croatian Football Federation and the Executive Committee for the continuous cooperation and support for me and my coaching staff, in order for us to be best and most successful.

I thank my staff and everyone who has cooperated with the Croatian national team project and invested their knowledge and effort to succeed.

I am also thankful to all the media and media representatives that have followed the performances of the national team. I am convinced that in their own way they all wanted Croatia to succeed and achieve the highest goals. Thank you.

In the end, I want to apologize to everyone who has expected better results and considers my or our goals unfulfilled. Football is the most beautiful game, and therefore a very unpredictable one. The best teams do not always win, but I believe football always wins and that's why we love it.

Respected Croatian public and dear fans, together with you, I remain an ardent supporter of the national team and our dear Croatia.

Yours
Niko Kovač
