Croatia defeated Segesta 8:1 in Sisak friendly and awaits the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

"I would like to thank Segesta for an impressive festivities and match organization, and the fans for coming in large numbers. We are preparing for the Turkey qualifier and we managed to test all available players. We've created some chances and finished them off, we've seen a serious approach against a motivated host team, and nobody was injured".

"It is always important to have in-form strikers, and we've had Mandžukić, Perišić, Kramarić, Čop, and Kalinić on the scoresheet. Against Turkey, Croatia has to do everything in its power to reach the necessary level for the World Cup qualifying challenges. Our qualifying group is probably the toughest, but Croatia has quality player and can finish on top" - Ante Čačić, Croatia head coach

"This match was important to achieve a certain rhythm, to score goals giving us confidence. We did a good job. The first qualifier is always extremely important, and it will be difficult against Turkey, but I hope we can repeat the EURO 2016 outcome" - Marko Pjaca

"The score against Segesta is less important. We needed this match as a training session, and thanks to the fans for a warm welcome. We will give everything against Turkey and try to secure all three points" - Domagoj Vida
