Croatia defender Dejan Lovren will not be available for Ante Čačić's selection for away qualifiers at Kosovo and Finland.

In agreement with Croatia head coach Ante Čačić, Dejan Lovren will miss October international action due to back injury sustained in a Swansea - Liverpool league match.

Coach Čačić has decided to call up Rijeka defender Matej Mitrović instead.

Meanwhile, Croatia captain and Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modrić, had a successful left knee surgery on Sunday in Madrid.

Modrić will start his recovery process immediately, and he is expected to return in a few weeks' time.
