Croatia captain Luka Modrić deserved his place among the candidates for UEFA Team of Year, to be selected by football fans throughout the world.

UEFA Team of the Year is to be selected for the 16th time, with 40 players nominated - four goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 12 midfielders, and 12 forwards - including the Croatia captain and Champions League winners Real Madrid star, Luka Modrić.

The fans can cast their vote until 3 January 2017. The Team of the Year will be presented two days later at UEFA official website. The voting is open here (en.toty.uefa.com).

Moreover, UEFA made available more information on nominees, and in 2015 the Team of the Year was selected with over seven million fan votes.
