Ivan Rakitić, Croatia international from Spanish powerhouse Barcelone, was selected the best team player of 2016 by the El Mundo Deportivo newspaper.

Renowned Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo awarded Ivan Rakitić among the best individuals of the previous calendar year.

Rakitić deserved his title as the best team player due to his generosity and dedication at Barcelona.

Former Sevilla star and captain, Rakitić submitted to team requirements at his new club and put aside individual recognition, leaving more space for Messi, Neymar, and Suarez in attack. Thus, Rakitić became one of key players in double-crown Barcelona campaign of 2016, explains El Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona signed the Croatia international in 2014.
