Croatia head coach Ante Čačić held a press conference following the European Qualifiers encounter with Ukraine in Zagreb.

At Maksimir Stadium, Croatia national team faced the guests from Ukraine, and stayed the top of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group I with a 1:0 victory. Nikola Kalinić scored the decider in the 38th minute.

"Croatia tried to dominate possession in every qualifier, and today was no different. We have tried to press the opponent early, hit the post, scored the goal, and this consumed a lot of energy. In the second half, Ukraine had its periods when we allowed them to attack us on flanks. However, the most important thing is to mention that this victory belongs to everyone who contributed to this great sporting atmosphere", says Croatia head coach Ante Čačić.

"Ukraine performed well, we respected them with a reason. These are valuable three points, and we are halfway to Russia, but we have to stay focused since we don't want any complications. Our back four have never played together before, and one could expect Ukraine to create some chances. I believe Croatia was better, but Ukraine has every right to believe in World Cup berth. I wish them to succeed with all my heart, they have quality, ideas, and will continue to improve", he added.

Confirming that Luka Modrić, Ivan Rakitić, Mario Mandžukić, Danijel Subašić and Nikola Kalinić will not travel to Estonia, Ante Čačić decided to call-up Ante Ćorić, and concluded:

"I am extremely proud of my players, and extremely happy for them".
