New Croatia national team head coach, Zlatko Dalić, has shared his views before travelling to Kiev.

Following the draw with Finland (1:1) in Rijeka, Croatia squad embarked on a journey to Ukraine on Saturday afternoon, to close the Group I campaign on Monday in Kiev. Leading the team is the new head coach Zlatko Dalić, Ante Čačić's successor. Dalić was unanimously appointed by the Croatian Football Federation Executive Committee.

"I would like to thank them for having confidence in me. I am ready for the upcoming challenge, aware of the difficult situation, including the poor atmosphere around the national team. However, I do not want to look behind, I am fully committed to the Ukraine clash", says Dalić.

The new head coach has little time to prepare for this qualifier.

"During these two days, we shall try to improve as much as we can. I will talk to the players, we shall try to find the consolidate our ranks and find the necessary chemistry. Quality is present, it just has to be awaken and activated. I am convinced we can succeed, I would take this job if I didn't believe in these guys and my capabilities", he added.

Ukraine is considered favourites due to the home stadium advantage.

"Croatia internationals play in front of the full crowds week after week. The fans' support in Kiev will not be a problem, this can be only an additional challenge. Ukraine will apply pressure in the opening 10 or 15 minutes, be Croatia has to stay focused and calm, and then take over the control of the game", concluded Zlatko Dalić.
