European Football Federation is organizing another Team of the Year selection, with Croatia captain Luka Modrić among the midfield candidates.

UEFA Team of the Year has been presented for the first time in 2001, and last year Luka Modrić became the first Croatia international to be selected in this best team in the world.

This year, Croatia captain and Real Madrid midfielder has retained the Champions League title and won the Spanish league title, among other individual and team honours. Moreover, he led the national team to the FIFA World Cup in Russia. 

The voting process is opened at UEFA official website.

Other nominated midfielders include Dele Alli (Tottenham), Marco Asensio (Real Madrid), Casemiro (Real Madrid), Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City), Christian Eriksen (Tottenham), Fabinho (Monaco), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Isco (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Manchester United), Miralem Pjanić (Juventus), Paul Pogba (Manchester United), and Saul Niguez (Atletico Madrid).
