Croatia internationals Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić have retained the Club World Cup title, courtesy of a win over Brazilian side Gremio.

The current Spanish and European champions Real Madrid have won their second consecutive world title. In the final match of the FIFA Club World Cup, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, the Spaniards defeated South American champions Gremio 1:0.

The decisive moments came on 53 minutes, when Ronaldo scored from a free-kick.

Croatia captain Luka Modrić, the Most Valuable Player of the semifinals win over Al-Jazira, played the entire match for Real Madrid, while Mateo Kovačić remained on the bench.

Pachuca secured third place defeated the hosts, Al-Jazira, 4:1.
