Dramatic turn of events against Atletico Madrid brought Real Madrid Champions League trophy, with Luka Modrić providing the assist for the equalizer.

Lisbon was the host for this year's Champions League final, witnessing the clash of Madrid rivals. Croatian international Luka Modrić was given his midfield role in Carlo Ancelotti's first team.

Disciplined Atletico team took the lead in 36th minute, Godin heading past Casillas, and held firm until the third minute of added time.

Then, Luka Modrić crossed the ball from a corner-kick, and Ramos headed the ball to make it 1:1 and bring extra-time.

Real Madrid won its tenth European title with Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo scoring in the last ten minutes of the match to record a 4:1 victory.

Luka Modrić played the entire match and became second Croatian consecutive Champions League winner after Mario Mandžukić last season with Bayern Munich. Moreover, Croatian international Ivan Rakitić won this year's Europa League with Sevilla.
